Героиня ее нового романа The duke is mine оказалась бесчувственной жестокой стервой. Оливия помолвлена с детства с наследником герцогского титула Рупертом. Возмутило читателей то, что Элоиза Джеймс выбрала жениха Оливии для насмешек. Героиня с сестрой постоянно вульгарно шутят о нем, его действия должны вызывать смех у читателей. Но читатели почему-то не смеются. Жених Оливии не дышал при рождении, его мозг пострадал и сейчас он отстает в развитии. Руперт не хочет секса и не может оплодотворить Оливию, но это вовсе не смешно.
